| Burnip - "Turnip" with a "B"! |
Chances are if you're currently reading this, you're probably some sort of family. Hello! For those of you that just happened to somehow randomly stumble onto this web site, sadly it may be a little boring for you...
Chances are you and I probably share the same last name - Burnip of course. There are a number of us around actually and many have contacted me over the years... I hail from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Most of the Canadian Burnip's are directly related to my family and I.
Of course, with a last name like Burnip, I have no choice but to make fun of the name a little bit - how many times have you had to use "Burnip - You know turnip with a B"? How many letters have you recieved to Mr/Mrs Turnip? Turnup? Burnup? Can you tell I had a painful childhood? ;)

I'm Ian burnip of south shields the burnipd were Geordies from south shields the marine park holds a meaning to us in south shields since the first photo I have is nelly Edward burnip on wedding day in 117 approx by band stand for photo all burnipd after that have a connection eg playing there or being photo graphs there for 130years in park even my children grandchildren learned to ride bikes there as I did well I hope it helps Ian burnip
DeleteHi just come across your site i am phillip burnip my father is william burnip who was born in wallsend newcastle england .He has a sister jenette who went to vancoover over 50 years ago ,iknow she had a little girl called susan ,but beyond that i no very little of the burnips in canada ,if you no of my auntie or any info you could give me would be appreciated all the best phil burnip

ReplyDeleteHi. I’m not a Burnip , but have two maritime paintings by a Juliet Burnip. They have been in the family for years. On the back it says they were painted pre First World War. There is a Nottinghamshire connection and I found a Juliet Burnip on from Notts on the 1911 census, but can’t access it at the moment.

DeleteHello! I’m a Burnip (on my mothers side) from Vancouver also. My grandfather William “Bill” Burnip came to Canada with his wife Sarah (Sally) Burnip nee Greene in the early 20th century from northeast England. They settled in Nanaimo and raised 4 children there. Bill was a sheriff, and an auctioneer and was very popular and well liked in Nanaimo. They lived well into their 80’s and passed in the 1960’s. Their children have also all passed now also but I have Burnip cousins in Port Alberni, Victoria and the Nanaimo area. I’m a Dickinson on my father’s side. My brothers and I always considered the Burnip side the most crazy fun ones.

DeleteIf you are related to Edward Burnip, who lives Stoney Creek in the Hamilton area, please tell him he owes me over $500 in materials that I paid for that were not given to me. And $500 in labor which I was coerced into giving him after over 2 months and nearly nothing completed, with various excuse after excuse, for a carpentry job he claimed he was able to do. He has horrific communication, obviously lying and when I finally came to collect my things and when I brought them home the new carpenter said that he used the wrong wood to begin with and none of few things that he did do were square, nor fit properly.
ReplyDeleteHe cost me 3 months of time, now my basement is full of wood that has been cut and probably not usable. I have to pay for more (correct) material, and someone else to do the job properly.
I am a single mother trying to take care of a 1-year-old crawling everywhere and trying to finish his bedroom. I can't put his clothes away, nor can I use the basement as any functional play space.
Edward burnip stole over $1000 from me, costing me more to fix and over 3 months of time.
He is an incompetent worker and a lying thief.
